Title: KX125 Exhaust help
Post by: cmiller493 on October 28, 2010, 07:55:46 AM
Okay, so on my kx125 I have a stock pipe with a turbine core 2 silencer. What I was wondering was if it would be worth switching to a Pro Circuit Works pipe and r304 shorty? Would there be much difference in power? Or should I just put in a new reed cage when I rebuild the top end this winter. I don't know what makes better power so I didn't know whether a new exhaust or new reeds would be the better way to go. Reeds would be cheaper but a new pipe would look awesome  8) Let me know what you guys think.

I don't know how much difference the pipe will make, But the turbine core chokes my 250 down quite a bit.
Just put the spark arrestor back on when you are going trail riding please.

I never trail ride, only track. So i dont really need a spark arrestor

If I'm not mistaken the shorty will give you a little more bottom end.

Before changing pipes, you need to decide where you need to change the power charactistis of your bike.  Do you want more power in the bottom, mid or upper ranges.  Is it power you're lacking or are you having trouble putting the power to the ground.  Is your suspension set up properly?  Before you spend the money, make sure you know what you're looking for.

You are correct, shorty adds bottom, that is what I am looking for. I would like a little more bottom end but don't want to get up to much overrev. And yes that is great advice, I don't want to buy anything unless I KNOW it will help. I am rebuilding my top end this winter so I will see how much that helps first before I buy anything else. I don't need to put to much into the bike as I plan on getting a 250 once I feel fast enough. In my race series 250 2 strokes run with the 250f so I mine as well have the extra power for racing.

FMF gnarly pipe, repack you turbinecore, Vforce 3 reed block, or Moose torque spacer and new reeds, you might also want to add a little wieght toi your fly wheel. (oz should be good for moto.. It'll give you a ton of bottom, almost like, dare I say, a fourstroke 250, and still rev out to the moon. you should also have your suspension serviced.
