Interesting letter in the "Readers Write" section of the latest Dirt Bike magazine.A guy in Sweden has switched back to a new Husaberg twostroke. I'm not going to reprint the entire article (can't type fast enough) but I'll quote some of the more interesting parts:
"I was fairly certain it would feel lighter and more nimble then a four stroke,
but I had no idea how much! It was faster the first time.and the smile
factor is just incredible! The weight difference may just be 24 pounds
on paper, but it feels like a million pounds in the woods. No arm pump
and my race results are all ready improving... If anyone thought the
two stroke was dead, think again."
Maybe the "Tide" is starting to turn?
P.S. I can't wait!

i made a mistake in 2009 buying an klx450 r .
the reason was a licence plate ,
now i ride it ,when the 2 stroke is taken a part or when a hit the woods with my brother
if i sell it ,i don't get the money that i still need to pay the bank
Big mistake.
but maybe in 2 years i will fit an kx 500 engine on the bike :d

That's a cool letter. I am seeing more and more ads on c'list of folks selling their thumpers to go back to 2T's. I think any manufacturer that isn't prepared to start selling two strokes again in the US in the next few years, is only hurting themselves. Nobody has the income they used to have and can't afford to spend over a grand anytime something in the top end of their 4T's goes bad.

I've noticed the same trend...
My buddy Ken sells more used bikes than many dealers are able to. They are all two-strokes!
The tide is changing. I'm not sure of the reason although we could all speculate. But the fun factor, being able to do some of your own work may be contributing to the shift.
It could be that the marketing used by the manufacturers has begun to bite them in the butt. Heavy is heavy!
Whatever the reason, it's great to hear stories like this.

My brother switched from an '06 KX450 to an '01 KX250 and he can't believe the difference. He is like a kid in a candy store. He hasn't raced anywhere but he is gearing up for it. He wonders why he ever got the 4-stroke anyway.
