hi, i know that you guys are are all into the vintage bikes so i have a question for you. i have an 01 yz125 and wanted to do it up with a retro theme to it and was wondering if you had any ideas for it
any help would be greatly appreciated :)
-
I guess it depends how "retro" you wanted to guy. Yellow/black, or red/white?
-
You could also do a black frame and motor, with silver plastic and red striping if you wanted to really look prehistoric. I don't know how well that scheme would work on today's bikes though, so I'd recommend the yellow/black, personally.
-
One more vote for Yellow/Black 8)
-
White & red... As they should be.

White and red

nah, my vote goes for the yellow/red and black. White and red was awesome, but I kind kind of like black and yellow/red better like they did on the 85 and half tri-z 250.

85 1/2
Edit, this might be an 86 with black plastic, but you get the point.

These to me, are the best looking bikes ever made.

Here's my '04 YZ, FLU designs did the graphics, I got the frame powder coated red and motor black, slotted on some gold rims and away we go.

Nice looking bike evo. :D
Same colour scheme as my '84 TT600 I just sold.

There should still be Bob Hannah yellow/black graphics kits available for your bike.

Yellow and black lighting bolt is the best Yamaha retro look ;D
-
I still say either the yellow and black for ultimate good-looks. But if you're out to really turn heads en masse, giving it graphics to emulate a Yamaha from BEFORE the YZ would really do it, kind of like how Service Honda made some CR500AF's in an "original Elsinore" motif.

What did Yamaha have before the YZ? Unless you're talking about the MX line which were yellow and black or did you mean the ugly silver ones

I'm gonna go back with the stock 90 plastic and red gripper seat cover since I found a source for origional style graphics

There hasn't been a really good looking dirt bike since they quit putting fins in the cylinders :P

You might consider the :cough: pink of the late '80s or early '90's. Didn't Bradshaw ride a Magenta one?
