Title: Some FMX from the MM Compound
Post by: 6IX on July 16, 2010, 10:02:59 AM
Finally caught up with my old bud Jeremy Stenberg and did some filming at the Metal Mulisha compoundâ?¦ Jeremy is self admittedly sucking pretty bad right now and needs to get in full swing practicing for Summer X-Gamesâ?¦ I talk with him a bit in the beginning about injuries and coming up to where heâ??s at. Knowing him back when he was doing his first heel clickers over the finish line tabletop at the local track and seeing his life now is pretty inspiring.

Mid section of the video I let the live audio in for a bit, and while Jeremy is on a 4-stroke for Freestyle now, youâ??ll still get plenty of good 2-stroke noiseâ?¦ Robbie Maddison, Taka Higashino, JacKo from Australia, and rookie Jimmy Hill are all representing on 2-strokes.

Even though itâ??s not HD, this video looked great before it was uploaded to Vimeo where it gets re-encodedâ?¦ Itâ??s a bit jittery, but doesnt break up too bad considering all the movement going on.  Enjoy.

That is an amazing video!

Some great footage of jumping two-strokes... you left some pinger sounds in there so folks can hear that sweet noise.

Did you ask why the switch to the four-stroke? Or any questions about FMX riders using them?

Not that I would expect them to say it while on camera, but just curious if it was brought up.

Thanks!

Jeremy, along with Nate Adams used to get bikes from Yamaha. When Yamaha didnt offer them free bikes, Nate went out and bought his own YZ250's, while Jeremy hooked up Kawasaki's through his agent (who happens to be Ryan Villopoto's agent as well) so thats why he's on the 4-stroke now.  His 450 is dialed in with factory Kawasaki parts and ignition mapping though, and he told me he doesnt miss his 2-stroke.  Sucks because I liked him on the YZ250.

At least it's still Robbie Maddison's ride though... and man did his YZ sound good that day, running a high compression head, race gas, and jetted... it sounded razor sharp as you can probably tell a bit from the video when he's doing those big turn back whips.

Transworld just did a poll of almost 50 questions with the top riders and one of them was just thatâ?¦ Around 75% or more said a good whip is more respected than a backflip nowadays since there seems to be quite a few bozoâ??s flipping anymore.

Would be awesome to see someone do freestyle on a new Maico.  Would be even more radical to see someone do it on a 80s Maico 490!

That wouldnt suprise me, i've never done a backflip and never will, but i've tried my heart out to do a good whip and i know it is not easy, especially whipping it like some of those guys do.
