Title: Hi Point - Can Dungey be stopped? 4 man race in the 250's? Chicks don't dig 2-st
Post by: VintageBlueSmoke on June 10, 2012, 10:42:02 AM
Perusing the entry list...Kyle Regal (JGR/Toyota/Yamaha) is entered in the 450 class on a YZ125. Broc Peterson (399) is entered on a Honda CR250R. 81 entries.

Only 1 KTM 350. Guess America isn't buying it without Dungey's support.

In the 250 class is Johnny Moore on a CR250R but I'm pretty sure that is a mis-print. 66 entries.

20 Women, no 2T's. You'd think the girlies would like the lighter 125...

It's the same story as with the guys... The girls are in search of sponsorship and support, and the industry will not support you in any way if you ride a 2 stroke in their weekly Mowercross or Foopercross TV commercial, sponsored in part by Monster Phleghm Energy Swill.

Ride a fooper and do good enough, and there'll be a paycheck in it for you....

Ride a 2 stroke and do good, or even WIN, and there'll be nothing for you other than fan support... Unless you want to accept one of Fonda's "Damage Control" fartbike rides like Cedric Soubeyras, in which they are basically paying you to ride a Fooper instead of giving their bikes a black eye on a two stroke 1/2 the size....

That's the ONLY reason why we have to watch this racing series which is a pale shadow of what it should be.

Though I agree with you, with only 20 girls lined up, I would guess that many of them are tagging along with husbands/fathers who are there racing/supporting anyhow. I know that I would be lining up even if I wasn't good enough to win if I had my way there taken care of!

I didn't watch the girls so I don't know if that  20 is quality, but in the GP's, only about the top 10 were very good and the rest wouldn't show well in the US "C" class.

I personally think that all them girls were lying to me when they said "It's OK, size doesn't really matterr..."

dungey is an awesome rider, to bad that steward was feeling pain in his wrist, i would like to see a battle between both. the battle between alessi and dungey on 2nd moto was getting exciting but dungey got his way over him, dungey was making some mistakes, lucky for him, he had a great advantage over 2nd position.

i saw it live on fuel tv with portuguese speakers, inácio silva and sandro marcos, this last was a mx/sx rider that won severel championships arround, and they we're talking about stewart's last crash and following some comments on fueltv's facebook, and a kid asked " as nowadays bikes have more torque, better suspension that allow to go faster after a turn, do you guys think that can cause more damage when you crash?" and both of speakers kinda agreed with that because, on a straight line, the faster you go, harder will be when you fall and sandro also said than sometimes in the air, if you jump in a lower gear you would feel the engine braking in the air and the bike starts to dive, and it is really hard to control in the same moment, so he said "sport can get dangerous, but not that exciting like when he raced 2 strokes", after that, there wasa bit of silence and inácio asked to sandro "don't you miss 2 strokes?" and he said " sure i do! has a retired pro racer, a 2 stroke is the bike to have! for me that i ride time to time or every weekend, my goal is to have fun, not to be competitive, and i also think that you can be competitive on a 2 stroke, but today no one cares, so fun only matters to me!".

man, that made me laugh! sooner or later, you'll get back to origins, 2 stroke are the roots of motocross, most riders do sell out to new tech, but sooner or later, they'll feel the need to ride a pre historic bike!

another highlight was that stand with a vintage rm250 and a yz490 i guess, ant the pictures that they showed of a 450 class rider that had a new born baby and he was wearing a black shirt with 2 pipes in a shape of a heart.

No one is left to stop Dungey now.Mr Consistency for sure but most of his main competition is gone-just like when he won the 450's the first time. Not that he isn't every bit as fast, but there's something to be said for not riding over your head all the time.
