Title: Semi-Related - MX Video Games
Post by: SwapperMX on April 22, 2013, 06:16:51 AM
Get on over and check this forum out, and show your support for the development of a new MX v ATV title. A media/game company has just bought the rights to a bunch of old THQ titles in a bankruptcy auction, and included in it was the MX v ATV range of games. If they see enough of a market, they may develop and deliver a new MX game. I know that there are plenty of guys here who would enjoy playing the MX v ATV range of games that exist on any one of the video game systems. Go and make some noise over there if you want to see a new MX game.

I am still playing MX vs. ATV Unleashed for PS2.  It's 9 years old now and the physics are perfect.  I keep setting lap times on 4 strokes, then go back and try to beat them on 2 strokes :)

I would love to see a game that had 3 wheelers, complete with goofy physics if possible.  That would be awesome.

I LOVE that game its freakin awesome, unfortunately my ps2 broke so I had to get an xbox 360 instead so now I have alive and reflex instead, both great games but I miss the free riding and pitbikes of unleashed.

I did try getting it for my xbox but the physics are all wrong for some reason not like it was on ps2.

Unleashed was OK, Alive was a disaster, Reflex was meh. Untamed was awesome.

MCM2 was awesome. A modern day version would just about be perfect. I also remember the game play of Supercross Circuit being very good also. Combining a bunch of games we have had in the past seems so easy and would make the perfect game.

Modern motocross games feels like Need for speed whit dirt texture..

One thing the made mcm2 great.. was that you had freedom in bike movement to connect many different freeride jumps

another was how easy it was to add you own bike and gear

There is a modern day version of MCM2 complete with 2-strokes.  MX Simulator is where it's at.  Game is tough as hell but has a huge online following with replica supercross and outdoor national series.  I'm talking replicas of the real tracks.

The base game isn't much to write home about, but like MCM2 the user-made add-ons are limitless.

Yes Mx Simulator have the potential to be good,
but last time i played it lacked gas gyro and had bad sounds.

And Sound is half the of what makes it feel real

I've heard people dislike MX Sim for a lot of reasons.. but that's the first time I've ever heard it called arcady.  I guess you never took it out of arcade mode to see how painful it is when you have to balance the bike yourself.  Takes a lot of crashing to get things under control.

@ Shawn36, I played the standard version and it was rubbish. The graphics were terrible, crashed all the time, and no realism about it. I only have a laptop and am not all in the know with computer stuff. I dont want to have to download heaps of different stuff and then have to try and get it to work, cos it never works when I do it. X-Box and PS3, you just put the game in and start playing. Simple, hassle free. Thats all I want.

Oh the base game is crap, there's no denying that.  But it's built to be expandable like MCM2 was.  All the real content is user made and downloadable.  Very detailed bike models, graphics, gear, objects, and tracks are already made for it.  But you need a good computer and the patience to deal with adding it all together, so it's not for everyone.  I don't think anyone is making the claim it's just like being on the bike, but it's by far the best thing running in terms of MX games right now.  The SX and national replica series are run very well.

With the amount investment it takes to create a game for the new generation consoles I just don't see anyone spending the coin to make a good MX game.  Blackbean made that MUD game but it's pretty bad.  That would be my definition of arcady.

Take it out of arcade mode and it is literally easier to ride a real bike. I played it with an xbox 360 controller and it was balls hard. Don't even bother with a keyboard. But its fun enough. And graphics have never affected my judging of a game. Minecraft's world is made out of 1m square blocks and its one of hte most popular games ever.
