I'm looking for opinions on what color to go with. After having to rebuild my bottom end on the 05 rm250, I found a broken front engine mount. I'm getting it repaired tomorrow. I figure after having to strip down the frame for the other repairs I might as well get it powdercoated. I'm looking for ideas as to which color to go with? OEM? black? I'm not into yellow frames... Has anyone seen any other color used on a suzuki?
I want to get it done this week.

I think most very dark colors will work OK
how about either a very dark- midnight blue?
or a very dark, (almost black) red
-
Factory Rm,s where black, oem is kinda of a silver, gray, and black mix. I think blue looks the best for RM,s. Gusset-weld the lower frame around the linkage, Rm frames like to break in that area.

lavender is hot this spring.

I painted the frame of my 04 RM with spray on bedliner. Everybody asks me where I got it powdercoated with a texture like that. It's a matte black with a very light texture, looks awesome, wears as good as powdercoat.

Have to agree. I think RM's look best in yellow and blue. That's probably a result of being a teen in the 80's and really getting into bikes at that time haha.
-
ive seen it in RED, blue yellow and black and oem. all look good as long as the rest of the bike compliments
-
Black.
The way God intended.

I have seen a few late model RM's done with retro blue frames and they look good.

hmm a midnight blue?
Beaner did you into any problems with the bedliner spray? Did you have to plug the holes or did the shop? How much $$ ?
How did it turn out? Was it sprayed everywhere?
..... and yes, laveneder would be my "go to" choice......
-
My RM I built 2 years ago.
It needed grips.
-
I used the spray can stuff. I had the bike stripped, and just painted the whole thing without plugging or taping off any holes. I can try to get a better pic of it when I'm in the shop later
EDIT:
I found a few pics of it
It looks really good, and nobody believes it's bedliner. It cost me $15 to do it and I had enough left over to do the rack on my KLX
-
Very cool. That is a nice option compared to the $180+tax quote I got today for powder coating....
-
i did rattle can on the rm i had. main problem i ran into was the paint easily chipping and flaking. however i didnt use a primer and i did only 3 coats. not saying it wouldve come out better. but powder coating will last longer than factory paint
-
The bedliner has lasted like the factory powder coat, and when it starts to wear through on the sides, you can touch it up in a few minutes.

I just did another build with a 06 RM, Powder coated Black frame, 80 dollars from a guy local to me, turned out pretty good...
-
Exactly! God looks down upon that black powder and says "thou art blessed".
Nice looking bike there!

Does anyone remember the '03 Team ECC RM125's?
They looked nuts in person.
I called NStyle about the kits to have one made, and they no longer even have the template.

I had another company make them up, I started out as a factory replica then I also wanted to ride it soooo, I had them copy the kit, replace a few sponsor logos,(michelin to dunlop ect) and it turned out great. I only plan to ride it a few times tho...

What company? I would really like a set.

*sigh* I am just too old school (or just old)? Why would you want to subsidize all those companies' advertizing budgets and make a clean motorcycle look like some sort of sticker magnet?
Yellow and Black is Where Its At. Don't need much else.
Pretty bike anyway!

Well the project started out just to freshen it up, but then I decided to replicate to a certain extent my favorite year of bike/theme that factory suzuki had and that was the 02/03 sobe suzuki's... it will end up in my basement trophy room as a talking piece, plus I love to build bikes from the ground up

I got the repaired frame back tonight. now I need to plug, scuff and tape off whatever needs it, then try my hand at rattle can art. I'll take some pics as I go along and try to post them up...
