Interesting test.The TM300s I have ridden were very much mid range motors as well.With respect to the TM 4T$,we had them much earlier here in western Canada,around 2001.

Very nice, i think if i was getting a new bike i would definately consider although i might get myself into trouble with the big 300.

Everything I've read on the TM's show's they are on par with a "works" bike with all the trick parts. They are designed for someone who knows how to ride a smoker, by continuing to twist the happy stick, and have a defcon 4 clutch hand. With the power mid to top, the bike will reward the rider who can utilize the hp and speed.
One question I have, is how tunable the bike's power? Can the power be moved from the top to the bottom? I understand this is a pure MX bike, but I wondering with the right pipe, reeds, etc. would it be more friendly to the masses (of slower guys like myself)?

It all sounds great until you look at the price. I think the Euro manufacturers have it mostly right, but until that sticker shock comes down I'd rather bolt a 300 kit onto a used KTM for less than half the total cost.

I forget the name of the company but they manufacture an adjustable powervalve device for TMs.

If you can ride a KTM300 you can ride a TM300. Yes the power is more mid to top but if you know how to use a clutch (every 2 stroke rider should know how to do this) it's not a problem.
The bottom end power is better then you would think (just not on par with the KTM) and will torque thru the slop pretty well.No the bikes are not for everyone ,but they are suprisingly good.
You can also fit 1 of these , but to be honest I hardly ever adjust mine.
1 is stock setting and I leave mine on 3. 8 the power valve wont open.

a flywheel weight usually cures most of the gripes the enduro riders have about 2 stroke MX bikes.

Mine has a dual map ignition with bar mounted switch, best of both worlds with one bottom end setting and one aimed at top end power.
Just switch it on the fly.

The Euro value has dropped quite a bit. I think it's around 1.3 now of the US dollar. It used to be almost double.

yes it is. thanks to spain, portugal, and greece. however the jap yen is destroying the dollar right now which is why those damn japanese bikes are so expensive, along with my rent and electric bill.
