I think one of the mad kiwi's mentioned this somewhere a while back.
Thought I would get the ball rollin'.

Hope this works.
......Yep, that was easy ;D
EDIT By Coop:
Just a heads up, bashing someone else's bike is a no-no and any post of that nature will be deleted or edited. We are all very proud of our bikes. It's immature, rude, and disrespectful to say someone else's bike is lame, ugly, gay, etc. If you don't like someone's bike, just keep your negative comments to yourself...

Maicoman,
The ktm is a 250sx, the maico is an '84, not real good on a "Modern" track, but give me a fast, flowing natural terrain track and I'd ride it over the ktm anyday. PIG to start though :D

Weird that your '84 is difficult to start, my dad's '86 Maico 500 starts as well as any 250 I've ever encountered. Anyway, I think you guys are generally familiar with my bikes, but here they are anyway.

We have a pre 90 vintage class here in Oz, so I have fitted a '87 cr 250 front end to it, standard it came with a single shoe drum brake. :o :o
It's an '84, they where still called Maico here, Mstar was a U.S. thing.

This is my bike ;D ;D 2002 RM 250, was a bit of a bling machine when a got it, sticker kit, black excel rims, pro tapers and pivot pegs etc, but was internally stock. i threw a new set of rings in it, got it ported, cut down the silencer and re-packed it, the jetting on it is rich as but i'm leaving it as it is untill the new reeds are here for it. love the bike especially the handling and the power band is awesome with the gnarly pipe/short silencer giving it awesome bottom end and midrange and the port job seems to let it pull alot harder up top (it used to flatline)

looking through these pics there is some damned nice bike's!! congrats to everyone!! ;)
-
Evo whats the letter for in front of your numbers? I've noticed some riders have it and some don't over here
-
To be quite honest graham I'm not sure how it works.
My original number used to be z40 which was a national grading ...........................but that was years ago.
I stepped away from racing for about 15yrs and when returned, started racing vintage which use the letter to determine the class (age) of bike, MQ have allowed me to retain this number for "moderns" as well. I believe you are able to request a number with a letter, one of the vets at our club runs the number P zero zero or P00 for short :D :D
By "over here" I'm assuming you have moved to the big west island from those two small islands below Tasmania. ;D

I gotta agree, these are some nice bikes :D
Does anybody remember being out riding when just a kid and wham...bam like a whirl wind a stranger, a ghost rider passed by all of a sudden and every one in the group you were riding with..went..."what the hell was that". That happened to me when I was, like 13 years old, this excellent rider came roaring by us little guys with this incredible "bulltaco". It had mean suspension, knobby tires that could grip any ground, speed that was amazing, etc... etc...After that we all were bulltaco fans, ha ha ha. That was a golden time when we had no responsibilty except being home before dark ;D
Back to topic, great pics of great bikes : )

Back to Honda Scotty?! Where were you riding? Looks like the Gnangara pines in the background. Were the rest of the boy's there? Saw Jay a couple of years ago at a pony express near Dongara, he had gone to the darkside (KX250F) but I think Glenn told me he sold it to build a house or something. Still keep in touch with the boys? Jeez haven't had a ride since December last year I'll probably die!!

I didn't want to post pics of a new bike, So I waited until she has a few scratches.
So far I have had her a month, and have done a desert race, a trail ride, and the Malcolm Smith trail 1w17.
-
Looks nice

Coooooollllllllll 8) Is that a Clarke or IMS? What's a Malcolm Smith trail.I know who he is but how is he affiliated with a trail?Or is it a run?

Hey Ford,
The tank is an IMS (I have a clark on my 500AF and hate it)
The Malcolm Smith trail is a black diamond trail in Southern California, It is a must ride for experienced riders. It's not good for beginners, but not as tough as some people make it out to be.
It's about 12 miles of rocks, roots, sand, deep water, snow, silt, and cliffs. With some of the best views in SoCal.
I use it for a training run for hare and hound racing. I've done the loop 3 times in one day and didn't throw up (I wanted to though).
If your ever in SoCal, I have an extra bike.
-
What is it about the Clarke do you not like?
I was thinking of getting a stock sized one for the YZ project... (different color)

John,
The Clarke is thinner than stock (Maybe better for MX) I'm a desert racer though and durability is very important when you are 40 miles from camp and its 100deg.
The Clarke does not fit as well as the IMS, but this is on my Service Honda, I love the bike, But admit it is an odd duck.
The nuts that are molded into the Clarke feel worn out when they are new, The IMS feels sturdy as the original Honda tank when it is 5 years old.

Finally got my bike out of the storage shed, after 7 months. The local motocross club had a free ride day ie. no comp licence needed. Can hardly move today ???

-
I have the same 07 rm250!!! ;D Hey did you send ur suspension to rg3 for revalve and re sprung? If so would you mind sharing with me how much it cost and how well u r pleased w/ it? I called pro circuit for a quote and they said $800-900 for everything but no shipping or ware parts!!!! thanks Evan
-
What kind of pipe is that, looks like a stocker but plated or something?
It looks pretty cool too. I'm guessing he sand blasted the black paint off.
-
Thats an awsome Zukie, not defending the suspension companies but they grow and grow employ more people so they have to get the cash in to keep the whole thing going. I have installed a lot of gold valves in friends bikes over the years and they make a huge difference. But I just got my personal suspension back from RG3 I'm not able to do the DLC coatings in my shop. I have been saving up for thier Diamond Kit for over a year along with thier tripple clamp. I can say words cannot describe how this suspension feels its at a whole different LEVEL. total cost with clamp around $3200. It's for my '98 CR250. I know I know, its over half of what the bike cost new......but its MINE

I like your cr125,s very sharp. I see you have a VHM head on her, any performance gains ? And a Ohlins shock where did you find that ? How much better than the stock shock, which is very good. I have a head and ear infection, trying to get my cr125,s ready, 04 cr125 waiting on the cylinder to be plated, bored and stroked,pc pipe, HGS BUD racing pipe 4 a 03 KX, fitted to my 04 cr125, and a 06 cr125 I put the 04 pc pipe on it, totally different bend, alot punchier-snappier. The icat works great on the 04, I got another icat for the 06, from Alaska. It,s the only place that has them, ever try the icat ?

probably going to get shot for this but what the hell:

Now why would you get shot for that? It is a 2 stroke and a hell of a 2 stroke at that ;D I dug the 3 wheelers, would rather have one of those than a quad. Once you got the hang of hangin' it out there those things were a kick in the ass.
-
dope, I love 250r's for some reason. I've had both trx250r and now the atc250r.

Real performance gains are hard to get on late model CR's if running on pump gas. Best gain moneywise if running pump fuel is HGS pipe/silencer combo, gives nice boost on mid. (btw, BUD and SRS pipes are just rebadged stock HGS.) .
VHM head has many different compression domes available, depending your other engine set-up and fuel. So yes, it helps if everything else is in sync with it.
Both bikes have Ohlins now. Bought from local importer. They are not anymore in Ohlins production so shock to the red CR was built from parts, which is standart Ohlin procedure in discontinued models. They just give more confidence in rough track.
Ahh... I-Cat ... my opinion is if everything else is right it doesn't help a bit, white Mugen replica has one :/

Now how about going back to the intended purpose of this thread?Posting pics of your ride.
Good idea, I think I am going to go clean up any non-topic posts, including my own...
EDIT: So I went back and cleaned up any off-topic posts that weren't pictures, or comments/questions/answers about a members bike. Some of the posts I didn't want to remove, but in the spirit of fairness they had to go. I'll keep this post here for awhile so in case anyone is wondering why this thread got a whole lot smaller ;D .

Crap,i hadn't looked for a bit but after a quick read last night I was going to post on the Honda debate tonight-D'oh :(

There are few bikes that I have ever seen which have made me get dizzy the way I do when I see that bike...

suzook241 good looking RM. Are you from PA (you didn't put a location in your profile)? I was curious seeing the Cernics sticker.

Its currenlty still being worked on. I'm waiting on a chain roller and I had to get new silencer. I bought this bike for $900 and have put about $700 into it. That's why I love 2 strokes.
-
Really? just 900 dollars?

I don't think that 250 is strapped down tight enough.
-
Yeah, tell me about it. The place I bought it from strapped it down like it was about to get dropped from an AC130. They loaded it up because I was holding my 2 year old son at the time. Funny story though, the back end slid out on the drive home and it about fell over. I fabricated and welded a nice wheel chock for the fron and rear tires on my trailer for 3 bikes.

Really? just 900 dollars?
Yep. I sold my 91 Cr250 for $900 (I bought it for $150 and put about $500 in it) and bought this one at a salvage yard. It had some shredded gears, and was missing the silencer, chain rollers, rear caliper and brake line, side panels, and the reed cage. I got most of these on ebay. I should have about $1600 in it when it's finally all done.
-
Man that is a nice KTM!!

First pic is my 2010 KTM SX250. I qaulified it in the only Canadian National I tried to on it this year but soon after it had so many troubles that I traded it in a on 450. it was trick, really fast and had awesome works Ohlins fork and shock. and sadly i'm still night and day faster on my new 450(http://images.quickblogcast.com/1/1/7/0/5/259975-250711/DSC00438.JPG?a=47)
this is from the 2-stroke challenge, probably one of my favorite bikes I have ever ridden.. '06 CR250. on the day of the race tho we messed up and put a 450 gear behind the clutch basket so it ran pretty bad at unadilla, but thats our fault.

450's are gay, alot of people are faster on them cause of lower skill level, and they are so much easier to ride, so I get why people ride them makes them feel like a hero, lol.
They make people lazy and try to do things they shouldnt which is why we have more injuries now a days in my opinion, I have seen this locally around my area happen.
Sounds like you need a new mechanic Lineman, lol.

Nice bikes. I picked up an 05 cr250 and it's defiantly my favorite bike and I have owned a lot of different bikes. The cr250 will defiantly be seeing some track time while the 450 sits in the garage.

450's are gay
This doesn't make any sense. How can a 450F be gay, if it's made for pussies? :P

What problems have you had ?
-
Well its for gay pussies, LOL :P
-
The KTM literally just started to rattle everything loose after i put about 10 hours on it. it was great brand new but both of the ones i had went downhill. and im pretty much stuck with my mechanic, he drives, pays the bills, and has to be there to sign my minor release forms...
if the rules ever change back to cc's I will for sure be back on a 2-stroke because i think real motocross is on a 2-stroke. but if you can't beat them, join them and that's where i am now. it's sad that a decent A rider can ride a 450 around lazy but I want to qaulify at pro nationals and you have to ride hard to do that no matter what bike so being lazy isnt an option or my dad will stop taking me.
-
I am suprised that the penton got sloppy so quickly....it is a bad ass looking bike though!!

Maybe he posted the wrong picture, and his bike actually looks more like this...

That is too good. I'm almost apprehensive about KTMs after reading this.
-
I've had no problems with my 09 250sx. I'm no A rider though.
-
Is it me or do we spent way toooo much time on cleaning our babies.. (other than Jetzcorp :D). All the bikes are really, really clean, polished, show room condition. I think we all need to get out there and sling some roost.... myself included... Of course after we do that, we'll all spend the next few evenings cleaning our babies again... Itâ??s a vicious cycle...
-
hey eprovenzano how about the gear? :P
-
Its funny you mention the gear, as I don't take care of my riding gear nearly well enough... I guess I send too much time cleaning and polishing my bike... :o Maybe I need to pay a little more attention to my gear...
-
this year i got
new fox f3 boots and at first i was washing them a lot,
now not so much :))
-
Shoot, I'll have to clean the spiders out of my boots, and use an airhose to clean off my helmet. My bike has taken a little while to get up and going (if you know what I mean).
-
I've had no problems with my 09 250sx. I'm no A rider though.
The 09 250sx,s head explodes into pieces, the new models have a thicker head. I know of a Florida rider that this happened to, his dealership got him a new cylinder, head, powervalve, but it took along time to get the parts, and a answer from KTM.
-
I keep my bikes clean, but probably not as clean as some of you guys. I pressure wash all the big stuff off, spray it with Simple Green, let it sit 5-10 minutes and hit it with the pressure again. Then I dry and lube the chain and inspect the bike so it can be ready for the next ride. I'm done in 15 minutes usually. That 15 minutes obviously doesn't include tranny oil changes or air filter maintenance.

Mine is great as well, no problems at all.....once the jetting is sorted.
I do hate the fact they fit 3 different types of heads on their bolts. Why do they need a Hex, Allen and Torx fittings and sometimes a combo of 2 ?

KTM over engineers their stuff. You should see the design of my 1984 KTM 495 engine, overly complicated with lots of tiny parts.

It would be good to see a long term test of the 09 KTM SXs

Nice! Definitely like the 134.
-
The proportions on that Husqvarna are all kinds of weird. It's like they took the radiator shrouds and gas tank from a full-size bike and just dropped them onto the minibike. And the angle on that shock! That's really something else to behold!
-
Front fender looks good.
-
Sapper I feel you pain... my son used to ride a Yz125. One day he wanted to go riding with a buddy, of course his buddy's bike was down for repairs. My son asked me if it would be OK if his buddy rode his 125 and he rode my Kx250... That was the last time the 250 was mine.. yes he commandeered it too... Of course that's why I got a KTM 300... I had to have something with more HP than what my son was riding... :D

It's the wheels that look out of proportion, as for the shocks they aren't too different from the early Yamaha's after the triangle swingarm set up.
-
These were actually imported by Cobra in the early 2k's until they finished their own designed bike. We still have it and it's for sale...
But it's fast enough to overtake alot of 50's. Good enough to get her 2nd place for the year in 50cc 7-8 class

yes, thats an easy way to change to look of a bike

you only need a racetech rear fender to complete the sharper look

Hey guys. this is my bike, 07 model. this is the night i picked it up. All i have done to it since is steal the rear shock and fork springs from my missus bike as hers was set up hard and mine was soft as. it is THE nicest bike i have ever ridden, after racing kx's for six years they hold nothing to this

This is my missus bike. 05 model, bought it after i got mine and for a 125 this thing flies. the suspension was set up perfect for me and im 87kgs so the guy who had it before us got this engine cracking, its a handful tho, absolutely no bottom end even for a 125 but that top end doesnt stop, its her first bike too but she wanted to do jumps and ride on motocross tracks so i got her a bike that would handle it

Ah yes,the colour blue.What's in a shade anyway?Apparently,quite a lot.
If you delve into the psychology of the matter in a Freudian sort of way,the results are quite telling.
Typically, blue is a manly colour while pink is a girly one but to choose a lighter shade of a manly colour puts one much closer to the effeminate side of the equation, even though this all plays out in the subconscious.
According to Freud, this a the result of deep seated emotional trauma in the developing years likely caused by an unnatural attachment to one's mother.
Geneticists and Biologists on the other hand, insist it is more likely a genetic imbalance resulting in a deficiency of testosterone or an amazing excess of estrogen in said male specimen.
Isn't science amazing?
To illustrate.....
Manly blue and farm hacks-oriental and otherwise....

Hey guys. this is my bike, 07 model. this is the night i picked it up. All i have done to it since is steal the rear shock and fork springs from my missus bike as hers was set up hard and mine was soft as. it is THE nicest bike i have ever ridden, after racing kx's for six years they hold nothing to this...
Maybe not, but an old KX stand is holding up that Suzuki...
Ba dum tsshhh!

Hey Ford, you are old enough to remember when (in the not too distant past) YZ's were pink? Freudian theory was thrown out the window long ago, now the preferred technique is to drug the patient into submission. All hail the pharmaceutical industry. :-X
In my spare time I'm slowly restoring a VERY badly abused 2002 TM 250MX and hopefully I'll have it ready for spring.
Maicos have been both red and blue over the years, not sure which color I like better.

What was it with the Jap's in the 90's ?
Kawasaki's with purple frames, Pink Yamaha's, Suzuki's with lime green, i think Hondas went abit pink/purple as well.
Where was freud then ford ? ::)

He went psychedelic man-oh yeah :o
The tribal, jungle graphic pink/purple RM's get my vote as the fugliest of all time.At least we knew then where all the Maico designers went. :P

They all got bought off by Honda for the 1982 Model-Year, actually.

Shhhh.... At this point in time MSS (Maico Secret Service) has Ford's place surrounded and we are covertly observing him.In clandestine meetings all over the globe we are debating his destiny. One suggestion that has been put forth is to just "shrink wrap" him to a tree in his backyard and we are arguing the merits of this solution. It must be precise and efficient, just like the Maico motorcycle. :D

Animal Rights Activists protested Leather-wearing at a biker rally.
HERE'S HOW POLICE FOUND ONE OF THEM.
Johnstown, PA (GlossyNews) - Local and state police scoured the hills outside rural Johnstown, Pennsylvania, after reports of three animal rights activists going missing after attempting to protest the wearing of leather at a large motorcycle gang rally this weekend. Two others, previously reported missing, were discovered by fast food workers "duct taped inside several fast food restaurant dumpsters," according to police officials.
"Something just went wrong," said a still visibly shaken organizer of the protest. "Something just went horribly, horribly, wrong." The organizer said a group of concerned animal rights activist groups, "growing tired of throwing fake blood and shouting profanities at older women wearing leather or fur coats," decided to protest the annual motorcycle club event "in a hope to show them our outrage at their wanton use of leather in their clothing and motor bike seats." "In fact," said the organizer, "motorcycle gangs are one of the biggest abusers of wearing leather, and we decided it was high time that we let them know that we disagree with them using it.ergo, they should stop."
According to witnesses, protesters arrived at the event in a vintage 1960's era Volkswagen van and began to pelt the gang members with balloons filled with red colored water, simulating blood, and shouting "you're murderers" to passers by. This, evidently, is when the brouhaha began.
"They peed on me!!!" charged one activist. "They grabbed me, said I looked like I was French, started calling me 'La Trene', and duct taped me to a tree so they could pee on me all day!"
Still others claimed they were forced to eat hamburgers and hot dogs under duress Those who resisted were allegedly held down while several bikers "farted on their heads."
Police officials declined comments on any leads or arrests due to the ongoing nature of the investigation; however, organizers for the motorcycle club rally expressed "surprise" at the allegations.
"That's preposterous," said one high-ranking member of the biker organizing committee. "We were having a party, and these people showed up and were very rude to us. They threw things at us, called us names, and tried to ruin the entire event. So, what did we do? We invited them to the party! What could be more friendly than that? You know, just because we are all members of motorcycle clubs does not mean we do not care about inclusiveness. Personally, I think it shows a lack of character for them to be saying such nasty things about us after we bent over backwards to make them feel welcome."
When confronted with the allegations of force-feeding the activists meat, using them as ad hoc latrines, leaving them incapacitated in fast food restaurant dumpsters, and 'farting on their heads,' the organizer declined to comment in detail. "That's just our secret handshake," assured the organizer.
WHO in the heck is stupid enough to protest against a bunch of bikers???? They are lucky this is ALL that happened to them!!

Agreed, and here I always felt I was a fairly able fisherman.Maybe my bait is lacking somehow.Oh well,I'll keep trying,I'm nothing if not persistent. :D
Cool looking bike Micahdog. How do you like it compared to the RM?

Sorry but you were observed today-I just didn't click in.Today is our garbage day so I just figured the extra people picking through the truck were just trainees or something and not Maico aficionados searching for better bits and pieces.
On the upside,if the restraint system you choose is Maico in origin it will likely fall off in short order and I'll escape back to Yamaland. :D
-
Thanks all, yes it is a 2011 250SX. I like it a lot better than the RM. My RM had two nagging problems. (1) someone milled the head and it needed at least 104 octane. But it didn't seem to make enough extra power to warrant the race gas. So I hated fueling up at $9/gallon. (2) it had a nasty habit of stalling out when lugging. Since I primarily woods ride, I would always be killing it when hopping logs or going through real technical stuff. Otherwise it was a great bike, good power, great style, I had it jetted very good and ergonomically I fit it great.
The KTM I have to have SDG modify the seat and i have to get taller bars. The jetting is clearly fat as it doesn't feel very crisp, but I'll leave it alone until break in is done. Powerwise, it is a great motor. I lugs beautifully and pulls strong through the midrange. I haven't gone WOT yet, but I can imagine it'll be very acceptable. I can't get over the level of detail either. They have run so many pieces through the CNC it's not even funny. Even the little tabs for the airbox lid are cnc'd aluminum. It makes all the cast components of the Jap bikes look a little cheap.
It is balanced really really well too. I was frequently coming to dead stops and just sitting there with my feet on the pegs. Only real gripe I had was with the clutch. It modulates just fine, but it feels like it isn't fully disengaging. I'll need to mess with the adjuster and possibly bleed it or play with tranny oil weight. But overall, this is one NICE bike and once I get it sorted out I know I will have ZERO regrets.
-
Sweeeeeet.Hydro clutches have a little different feel than cable but are far superior imo.On the KTM's,I always loved how you can adjust the lever reach to the bars to suit.Good stuff.
-
Great looking KTM. ;D
I had the stalling problem with my RM. A flywheel weight fixed that.
-
The "Animal Rights Activists" Email sounds like a plot for a new Jim Carrey comedy.
I've found that sometimes a dragging hydraulic clutch on a new bike is the result of debris from a gearbox breaking in finding it's way to the slave cylinder shaft seal.
-
I'll go for the obvious first and check the system for air. Then go after the oil. Oh and I did put a 11 oz flywheel weight on the RM. It didn't really have the desired effect. The power still hit just as hard, but the bike wanted to wheelie a little easier. It still stalled often. It may have been related to the high compression.

Hi Everyone, just found this site while researching the new Maicos. I am freakin stroked there are still so many dedicated two-stroke die hards left out there. All of my bikes are two strokes with the exception of my DualSport, but I think the DR truely believes it's a reincarnated 1980 RM500,lol. here is my current ride
-
hmm, image not as large as I hoped. I might need some help with the hypertexting option. will get back to it when I have more time.
-
Clicking on it enlarges it.
Very interesting bike. I've never seen anything like it. Heck ive never seen a bike with a four digit number plate :P
-
I live in North West Florida, and ride the Southern Enduro Riders Association HareScramble curcuit. The Green back grounds are for C class the 13 is the Open designation and row number. 43 is my AMA district number. I didn't pick the number it was the number of the transponder i bought when I started racing, just lucked out on it. The lady that was working that day said there would be alot of pissed off people that wanted it. I've actually had corse workers try to pull my front #plate off at check points. And my bike has been knocked over once while I was at sign up with no watch dog at my pit. F'n rednecks.

here's my smoker:
It has:
Full doma exhaust,
V force 3 reeds
Nem prox piston and rings
Front suspension rebuilt.
the power it's OK but I feel that the suspension isn't work well. Any ideas to upgrade the handling of the bike?
Cheers
-
Welcome to the site.
First thing to do is get a pro circuit rear linkage.
It has a different linkage ratio and settles the bike down.
-
It looks like he has an 04 or 05 model, they didn't suffer the same stink bug feeling as the 06 and 07, mostly due to not having a high speed compression adjuster.
lower the forks so the tops are flush with the clamps, check Race-Tech for the proper spring rates for your weight, get them revalved by a reputable suspension company, They guy I use is Race-Tech certified but he uses some other companies products as well, set the racesag at 93mm, to 95mm. I have found great success with the 93mm setting. you might also consider running a 20 or 22mm offset tripleclamp, I believe that the kx450 from 04-07 will cross fit w/ the 03 -07 kxRs

Welcome to the forum Huff, nice collection!
Welcome MX, nice to see another TM. :)
-
Welcome MXPAD.
What year is your tm.
-
I am a MX Dad, My Lad Christian rides TM125's both 2010 models in the MCF British Championship he is 16yrs old and finished 10th in the Juniors in 2010, he will also be riding a TM250 2011 model in the open juniors.
he gets support from www.tmukonline.net (http://www.tmukonline.net)
2 strokes are coming back here in the UK, and several national championships are starting to get good support and full gates, unless you are a fully supported factory or semi factory rider it is too expensive to run 4 strokes.
Good Luck
-
Glad to see TM offering rider support!

Just wanted to offer my personal welcoming to the site. We are really starting to see a lot more new members lately. Which is awesome to see. And great to see you guys out there and up front on the TM smokers. Some of the best bikes currently on offer from any manufacturer. Definitely keep us updated on how you guys go this year. Hopefully get some wins and some good results? Are you going to do any of the World Championship rounds on the 125??
-
Cheers, if Christian gets a wildcard for one of the World rounds we would have a go and see if he could qualify, but he is all out for the British Jnr 125cc Championship with the MC Federation,.
Can also say we love the TM's these bikes have transformed Christian results and riding.
thanks again and good luck for 2011

This is absolutely Hilarious. It's my hometown. We go up every year in June for the Bike rally, Thunder in the Valley. But truthfully, it never happened. Don't know where the story originated but you can believe it would happen if the bikers were provoked.

The 1997 RM125 I bought last Friday for my nephew. Has some nice parts: Pro-Circuit pipe, Bill's Pipes silencer, V-Force, etc. Needs front wheel bearings, front brake pads, the front brake lever (it's bent and started to crack when I was straightening it), the seat cover is ripped and there is a short crack in the front fender they "repaired" with zip ties LOL. Oh yeah the shift lever toe is a little floppy but thanks to Power Play Motorsports I have one on the way. Mechanically other than the bearings/pads I mentioned it is really pretty sound. I have never been an RM fan but it was cheap :D :

I actually have a Dirt Rider here from 1998 with a 125 shootout and it talks about the things Suzuki changed between 1997-98. The suspension was one thing they liked though.

Nice and muddy riding area area you got there. Where abouts is that?
-

You Should come ride in Port Angeles, lots of trails and the track at Deer Park is pretty good too! 8)

(http://i54.tinypic.com/2znpnqt.jpg) A 2003 KTM 250, 1hour after i bought it.
Next day: (http://i53.tinypic.com/255p0jm.jpg)
Frame needs a bit of welding and a fresh coating. The bike was used by some knobhead that rode it between the cows and hardly cleaned it.
So i took it apart for a complete overhaul. :P
I hope to get it ready around the end of April.
-
Nice bike
twest, I'll let you know when I renew my membership to the track, hopefully we can ride one of these weekends.
-

This was at LACR (now closed) in Palmdale, CA. I got a good start at the LA Old Timers International in 2007.
I am 45 and for the most part I race the International Old Timers series. There are 14 chapters all over the western U.S. and Canada. Every chapter has one International race per year. They are two day events that have five motos, three saturday and two on sunday. We have classes for riders of all ages up to our +80 riders. We have a lot of fun. You just can't beat Geezer-Cross.
-
Geezer cross :D lol Awesome.
Awww I shouldn't laugh, I'll be there soon enough....
Welcome to the forum Larry, nice Katoom!

Toby... That sprocket still scares me
-
sweet maico!

How slow do you ride to need such a huge rear sprocket?? :P :P
Just kidding man, that's a good looking bike.
-
Where are those pics taken toby?
It looks alot like Jones Creek over in Camas
-
How slow do you ride to need such a huge rear sprocket??
Just kidding man, that's a good looking bike.
haha, actually it makes it almost a proper 1st gear. Maicos made 2nd gear 1st gear b/c no one used first gear on the bikes in MX, so was too fast. Although it messes up 5th gear with the close ratio and makes 5th too slow this way even on the fire roads, but 1st gear is closer to where it should be for trails.
This is at Diamond Mill
-
Holy Cow that's a big sprocket!!!!!
-
I think hes planning to do wheelstands on it :P
-
thankss i kinda miss the honda but love the ktm
I know there not everyones favourite Honda with the first generation frame but the 97/98 250 had an awesome engine, i used to love the power of my ol 98, it only had an FMF system but damn it had some grunt.........the 99 wasnt so great when it came to power but i still loved riding it, I think the ergo's suited my size n style...
-
It looks like he stole it from a saw mill

Here is my baby. It is a RM 250 2009, bought brand new this spring and I can tell you that it was a great bargain compared to buying a thumper. Completely stock except some small personal changes (Handlebars, smaller rear sprocket, etc.), and I'm just loving this bike. It is by far the best bike I've ever owned, easy to maintain and I'm having a blast everytime I'm riding that thing! I'm currently racing in the B-class here in Finland, and this thing aint giving any advantage to 450's, thats for sure. I'm hoping to make it to the A class this or next year, and I'm for sure going to run the 2-banger there also, but we might have to do some modifications for the engine to keep it running there with "big-boys" riding the GP tuned thumpers up front... But as far as that goes I'm not worried at all, I think that 250 2-stroke has tons of potential to STILL tighten it up, 4-strokes have nothing on us! ;)
-
awesome bike!
-
Just completed one of my projects, I now need to grow bigger kahunas :o
(http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o82/evo550/IMG_0713.jpg)
-
Hey Opfer you should be able to install the primary gears out of an 83 250 Maico in your new 500.That would allow you to go back to your original sprockets and chainguide. If you then needed to gear up you could then add a tooth or two to the countershaft sprocket. ;D

Looks ready for (or to cause) a funeral. lol Nice ;D
Funny, It needs a top end, I've been putting it off because it is so much easier to ride/start when its a little tired (still way faster than my 250). Yes I am old!

Picked up the 250 yesterday. Need to strip it down and go through the parts and see what I need to fix. Engine works well at least, otherwise its maintenance has been neglected pretty bad.
My cursed 125 on the left.

Meh, it'll scream again one day. ;D

Hi guys, I have been able to get some great info here on previous visits so I thought I should contribute something that might be usefull.
I had been looking for months on the internet for pictures of the New 2011 NStyle Lucas oil Troy Lee graphics kit.
i could not find any so decided to buy the kit blind.
Here are a few pics of my bike.

Hello, first post.
Just finished cleaning up my 05 125, still haven't gotten to race it yet this year but I will pretty soon. Pretty much bone stock minus the twin wall handlebars, plastics, and R-304 silencer. MX 404 rear tire, already have a 403 front just haven't put it on yet. :)
Really want to join the black rim bandwagon right about now too... 8)

Sold the 65 and added a new one to the family. It's an 03 with less than 20 original hours on it. She loves it and is getting used to the extra power. She loves the suspension, much more forgiving than the 65.

Nice looking YZ, and I love the fact the only things changed between 03 and 2012 are the forks, chassis(No big difference, 2lbs less? lmfao), rear shock, and Idk if you want to include tuning down the motor again(Less compression 2011-12). You've done a nice touch up however, and I hope mine turns out like that. ::)

Not necessarily tuned down, less compression = more top end.

Bought a clapped out barely running 2002 CR250 and instead of tearing it down to rebuild I took it racing that very weekend. Blew off a radiator hose in practice and it was way down on power, but I won the +25A. It immediately blew up the next weekend.

And here it is basically put back to stock. I had originally intended to sell it like this but changed my mind. Working lots of overtime lately so I'm going to put some money into it and build how I want. 265 kit, late model suspension, 09 CRF450 fender/plate/shrouds, ect.

That's my favorite "steelie" CR. This bike is a recreation of
the 93 CR250 I had back in 93 (see picture). I had a lot of
fun and success on that bike so I thought it would be way
cool to have a 93 again. I searched everywhere for a decent
bike to restore, but they were all clapped out. So I decided to
build one from scratch using all new parts. Not the most cost
effective way, but there's nothing like riding a brand new 93
CR250 again.
Unfortunately, parts are getting scarce and I am probably
going to retire it to low intensity fun riding after two years
of racing. I'm in the middle of another motor rebuild right
now - probably the last one (see picture). I plan to replace
this one in my race line up with another hybrid like the 500
using a 2001 CR250 engine and a gen 4 or 5 CRF250 frame.
I've already started building the 01 engine.

Compared to the steel frame, it's quite a bit better.
The first thing you notice is how much slimmer and compact the
bike feels just sitting on it. It's much easier to move around on
when riding. The handling is razor sharp also in comparrison. The
08 CRF has a fairly steep steering angle (thus the steering dampner),
and the bike turns just from thinking about it. Unlike the CRF though,
just a little throttle will create a rear wheel induced direction change,
the way it should be.
The down side is the short wheelbase combined with a bunch of
torque and power. All I can say is it's good that it's easy to move
around on because I spend a lot of time on the tank trying to keep
the front wheel down.
Overal, the bike is a blast to ride.

probably couldnt keep the front end down if you sat on the handlebars.

Back for more.

Nice. Now where are the pics of your 04 RC51? Don't hold out on us, it says "ride", not just "motocross bike". (I'm too damn lazy to get good pics of my RMs, much less the SDR.)
