Title: Reno Air Races
Post by: riffraff on September 16, 2011, 08:35:34 PM: Was at the air races today and had a plane go into the crowd, worst thing that could possibly happen, video on youtube :'(

it's because of the media and the internet, within 30 minutes of the accident it was on youtube

The 2 died at the hospital, no report yet on fatalities at the scene but from what I saw and heard it will go higher. It definitely wasn't pilot error, so far it appears like he lost the elevator trim tab.

Post by: ford832 on September 19, 2011, 04:36:49 PM: A bad deal for sure but I'd hate to see it shut down.Sometimes you just take chances-as a participant or a spectator.I've seen two plane crashes right in front of me.One was a snowbird and the other a ww2 plane that couldn't pull out of a stall.Freaky stuff-especially when you can see the pilot struggling for control in his last seconds. :(

They still have the impact area closed off and are still actively investigating and cleaning things. Rumor has it that the telemetry from the plane showed that it pulled over 20 g's, you can see the tail wheel extend in the slow motion.
