Another scooter manufacturer was the Czech Tatran and they built some really nice ISDT small bores.

i have a 1972 vespa 50s. I'm just waiting to get her back from painting and rebuild it. Got everything new to replace the old parts.

Nice Scooter but I was expecting to see a maico and it might handle a bit better on a track too

In the late '80's (I think) a friend of mine had a Yamaha Chappy scooter, I think it was an 80cc. It had an automatic 3 speed transmission, shifted just like a car. We took the barrel off an Dremel'ed out the exhaust port and the transfers a little, and that thing was a blast - although 50+ mph on pavement with those fat tires was a little sketchy...
hey MXLord, i'm currently doing a chappy project for my uncle, the chappy motor itself it trashed (and extremely hard and expensive to find parts for) but we swapped a honda xr50 motor in it, made new engine mounts and it fits right it. we're almost through with it, i wish we could've kept the little 2 stroke motor but it was insanely hard to find parts for it, and when we did find parts they were way to expensive, its a pretty cool little bike so far

He would cowtrail with us and I have to tell you it was a fun machine.
The gear shifter was the left handgrip. You pull in the clutch and twist the whole grip to shift.
Seems like it had a leading link fork and just soaked up the bumps in that pasture, and stuck like glue too!

the newer model from early 80's had better shift linkage than my model 50s, but both of them are a PITA to tune.
about breaking, forget it! you'll go straight from no brakes to locked rear wheel, imagine riding a tunned bike with stock hub brakes, scary!!

Is that your 490? I can see it has a reed valved cylinder. Tell me about it.
